Big push here in Australia to get off gas for all appliances. We switched from gas stove to induction 2 years ago. It was a strange learning curve, as the usual cues were missing, such as sizzling and the lack of a flame licking Jo the sides of the pan of this impatient cook. Never has a gas oven at home, but used them in large hotel pastry kitchens. Got a new Bosch oven last year - it’s amazing, I don’t need to rotate the trays, it cooks so evenly.
Glad you're happy with the switch! We've got electric wall ovens, which we love, but a gas cooktop. We are considering the switch to an induction cooktop, so I bought a $60 IKEA single portable induction burner to try it out. I am SUCH a fan! It's quicker, it's quieter than running the gas cooktop with the fan, and it's so much easier to clean! Plus, we just put on solar panels, so using electric > gas makes even more sense for us, environment-wise. At this point, we rarely need more than one burner, so it's unusual that we even turn on the gas anymore, but there are still a few occasions when we need to do so--hopefully we can replace our cooktop soon! Happy baking in your new oven!
I currently bake in a gas oven and have a gas range. First, gas ovens suck. They are vented so it is impossible to use steam for anything unless you have a closed container like a Dutch oven. I look forward to an electric oven.
The gas range is ok, better than a traditional electric range in terms of responsiveness. But I have been using induction burners to see how I like the experience. We will certainly make the jump to induction when we are able to. Great control, fast for liquids, and doesn’t heat up our kitchen like the gas burner does. And better for the environment, yada, yada.

This is such a timely article for me, I need a new oven (mine is 20 years old) and I have been delaying the purchase mostly because I want to get 'the' one. I also want induction and, I have been baking more than in the past.
I have noticed the Cafe line - mostly because I liked their aesthetic - also good reviews. Thanks for the suggestion! Good to have feedback from people that actually 'use' their ovens.
Mine is an old (very old) electric. I cook 24/7 so getting the right oven is important to me. Thanks for the suggestion it is tricky to know which brand to purchase!
So far, I have no complaints! Just stay away from Thermador at all costs. I've known several serious bakers who've owned them and we've all hated them. I know two folks who even returned new Thermador ovens because of how bad they were.
I have the same induction stove! I love it. Awesome for baking.

Induction RULES. Someday (if the human race survives long enough) we will look back upon gas ranges as quaint relics.

Yes! The venting of my gas oven made it impossible to steam it well!

Great post!
I've had two Cafe-brand ovens (by GE) that were rated highly by a few reputable sites. They both have worked great.

I replaced an electric range and I’ll never go back. I think the stove was just under$3000. Worth it if you love to cook.
